Barca Fieldwork
Tapajos Forest
Druk Air Bhutan
During my tenure with the Wofsy group, I have been very fortunate to be a part of many exciting field missions in some of the most amazing places in the world. The list below details my role in these campaigns.
The main aircraft instrument that I work with is the Observations of the Middle Stratosphere (OMS) carbon dioxide instrument. Designed in 1996 initially for balloon experiments, it is an in-situ 1-Hz instrument that measures stratospheric carbon dioxide via a non-dispersive infrared adsorption detector in a modified LICOR system that is calibrated within flight. The OMS instrument was reconfigured for tropospheric carbon dioxide sampling to fit in a variety of aircrafts such as the WB-57 bomber (CR-AVE mission), the King Air (COBRA-Maine mission), the Bandeirante (BARCA campaigns), & the DC-8.
Balanço Atmosférico Regional de Carbono na Amazônia (BARCA), 2008 & 2009 - Flight planning, OMS CO2 instrument pre- & post-flight, instrument maintenance, data reduction.

NASA Costa Rica Aura Validation Experiment (CR-AVE mission), January 2006 - OMS CO2 instrument pre- and post-flight preparation.

NASA AURA Validation Balloon Campaign, Fort Sumner, New Mexico, September 2005 - OMS CO2 Instrument integration, pre- and post- flight, instrument maintenance, data reduction, end of mission instrument breakdown and packaging for transport.

Bhutan Forestry Program December 2004 to January 2005 - Exploratory forestry work which entailed plots/surveys and basic reconnaissance.

CO2 Budget and Rectification Aircraft Campaign (COBRA), Summer 2004 - OMS  CO2 and CO instruments pre- and post-flight, onboard instrument monitoring, instrument maintenance, data reduction, and flight planning.

Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Experiment in Amazonia (LBA),

2003-2005 - Survey & study design and layout, biometry measurements, CWD measurements, and tower instrument maintenance.

Harvard Forest, 2003-2005 - Soil respiration, biometry, and lItter fall measurements.
